Indian police: Man fatally stabs 14 relatives, hangs self
NEW DELHI — A man in western India stabbed 14 members of his family to death early Sunday before hanging himself, police said.
An officer at the police control room in the city of Thane, located outside of Mumbai, said it was unclear why Hasnain Warekar killed his family just after midnight Saturday.
The victims' bodies were discovered early Sunday morning in the man's home.
The officer gave no other details, but the Press Trust of India news agency reported that the dead included six children and that a family dispute over property was behind the attacks.
The bodies have been sent to a Thane hospital for autopsies. No other details were immediately available.
