Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., presented the Founder's Award to TV talk maven Oprah Winfrey at the 39th annual International Emmy Awards in New York.

In accepting her award Monday night, Winfrey drew loud applause when she said to Clinton: "I hope you do us the privilege of running for office," Daily Variety reported Tuesday. Winfrey apparently was alluding to speculation Clinton may seek the Democratic nomination for president in 2008.

More than 1,000 people attended the ceremony at the Hilton Hotel, which was covered by a number of foreign-based media crews, Variety said.

Denmark won Emmys for its drama, "The Eagle" and a miniseries about Hans Christian Andersen. The top documentary came from Germany, retelling the bombing of Dresden.

China won its first International Emmy and France and China took trophies as well, Variety said.

The BBC's "Top Gear" took the Emmy for best reality show and its "Holocaust: A Musical Memorial Film from Auschwitz" won the award for arts programming.
