Irwin Cookie Tour sets record attendance

The Irwin Business and Professional Association reports that its sixth-annual Christmas Cookie Tour was its best-ever turnout, although the event was a single day for the first time.

"The number of people in town on a Friday was wonderful," said Association President Lois Woleslagle of the Dec. 3 event. "Everyone was having such a great time. The children really got into the karaoke. The horse carriage added an old-time touch. We are truly blessed."

Musical entertainment was well received at Cafe Supreme (Dante Romito); Main Street Deli (Jim Relja); Colonial Grille (Bad Strad, a Celtic rock group); and Cheesecake Caffe (Ray Moretton).

Christmas songs ran rampant in karaoke form at John Gdula's State Farm offices as "Jerioke" and "Big Al" spun the classics.

The Norwin High School Show Choir caroled all around town and inside the stores, as well as Norwin teachers.

In all, 20 stores participated along with 25 carolers.

The Christmas Cookie Tour is the last event for 2010 by the business association, which offers thanks to the borough council, police, public works and all volunteers.
