The most popular baby names of 2004 have a distinctly old-fashioned feel, with Jacob heading the list for boys and Emily for girls.

The Social Security Administration, which released its annual list in honor of Mother's Day, said that Jacob has been in the top spot since 1999 and Emily since 1996.

For the first time this year, the agency also listed the top choices for twins. In 2004, Jacob and Joshua came first, closely followed by the euphonistic pair of Taylor and Tyler. Faith and Hope, fifth overall, were the most popular twin names for girls.

Round out the list of top 10 boys names were Michael, Joshua, Matthew, Ethan, Andrew, Daniel, William, Joseph and Christopher. For the girls, it was Emma, Madison, Olivia, Hannah, Abigail, Isabella, Ashley, Samantha and Elizabeth.
