Former Shonen Knife drummer Mana “China” Nishiura has been killed in a three-vehicle crash near Pennsville, N.J., it was reported Monday. Nishiura, who joined Japan’s pop rock Shonen Knife 2001, was on a U.S. tour with noise rockers DMBQ, when the band’s van was clipped by car near the Deleware Memorial Bridge Friday and rolled down an embankment several times into the path of a pickup truck, MTV said. Nishiura, a native of Hiroshima, was thrown from the van and pronounced dead at the scene. The four other members of DMBQ were treated at a nearby hospital for injuries described as “not serious.” The band’s manager, Michelle Cable, underwent surgery for a head injury. © Copyright 2005 by United Press International
