Middle-aged Japanese men, known to play golf with their buddies or go drinking with women from the office, are now turning to their wives instead.

A survey by Senior Communication found more husbands have become interested than their wives in the issue of human relationships, and are becoming more eager to repair the damage following years of bad marriage, the Japan Times reported.

The survey also found close to 30 percent of middle-aged wives say they no longer expect anything more from their husband than his monthly salary -- and many balk at the prospect of starting over.

However, the middle-aged men are a lot more romantic than many believe. The men, no longer young, and perhaps too shy or insecure to look for love elsewhere, may have begun to realize that their wives are really all they have, the Times said.
