The New York Jets released veteran running back Kevan Barlow, a former Peabody High School and Pitt standout, and offensive lineman Trey Teague. They also re-signed cornerback and former Pitt star Hank Poteat, and signed safety Raymond Ventrone to a reserve-future contract. • Defensive tackle Vonnie Holliday has signed a $20 million, four-year contract to stay with the Miami Dolphins. The deal includes a signing bonus of nearly $7 million. • Bengals linebacker Odell Thurman pleaded no contest to driving drunk last September and said he was undergoing treatment for alcohol abuse. Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge John Burlew imposed a 90-day jail sentence but said Thurman did not have to start serving it yet. • Peyton Manning has agreed to restructure his contract with the Indianapolis Colts to save the team nearly $8 million in salary cap space. The Super Bowl MVP was to receive a $10 million roster bonus during the offseason but by converting the money into a regular signing bonus, the Colts can prorate that amount over the remaining four years of his deal. • Jets coach Eric Mangini finalized his staff for next season, with former New England receivers coach Brian Daboll and former Miami defensive line coach Dan Quinn among the additions. Daboll joins the Jets as their quarterbacks coach, and Quinn will stick with the defensive line. The Jets also hired Mike MacIntyre as their secondary coach, Sal Alosi as their strength and conditioning coach, and Jerome Henderson as assistant secondary coach.
