Police are searching for three men who pistol-whipped a jitney driver and stole his car Monday night.

The driver, who wasn't identified, picked up the men on Bedford Avenue in the Hill District just before 8 p.m., police said. As they arrived at a Chauncey Street destination, one of the men hit the driver in the back of the head with a gun, police said.

The driver was hit several times and then pushed out of his car. The suspects drove away and police recovered the car a short time later on nearby Cliff Street. The driver suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment, police said.
