JL moving HQ to suburbs
J&L Specialty Steel Inc. said it expects to complete the relocation of its corporate headquarters from downtown Pittsburgh to suburban Moon Township on Monday.
J&L is moving from One PPG Place to the Westpointe Corporate Center One building, along Coraopolis Heights Road.
About 100 office employees will occupy about 29,000 square feet on the fifth floor of the office complex, according to Steven Sczytko, senior vice president of purchasing and financing.
Sczytko said next spring would have marked 15 years that the company has been in downtown Pittsburgh.
J&L said the relocation will allow the company to consolidate personnel onto a single floor and provide some additional space for further consolidation of corporate functions.
J&L produces flat-rolled stainless-steel products at plants in Midland, Beaver County, and Louisville, Ohio. J&L is owned by French steelmaker Usinor SA.
“Basically, there are economies generated from having our main office closer to existing manufacturing plants. We’ll be able to bring people from Midland to the corporate office, and we can also cut driving time traveling back and forth,” Sczytko said.
J&L will join Waste Management Inc. and AIG Insurance as tenants in the five-story, 125,0000-square-foot building.
