Karns City’s night out on the South Side turned out to be a great time for the Gremlins.
Collin Dunmyre had touchdown runs of 36, 3 and 28 yards, and Christian Turner added 109 yards on the ground for Karns City in a blowout nondistrict win over Brashear, 55-7, on Friday night at Cupples Stadium.
Tristan Rhoades had two rushing touchdowns, and Tyler Dunn and Steven Bellas both had one rushing touchdown for Karns City (2-0). Cody Deal also scored on a 33-yard interception return. Khalil Saunders scored the only touchdown for the Bulls (1-1) on an 18-yard run in the second quarter.
Redbank Valley 35, Carrick 14 —Curtis Mohney had 133 yards and a touchdown, and Colten Mohney had 101 yards and a touchdown — both on 14 carries — to send Redbank Valley on its way to a nondistrict win in New Bethlehem.
Jake Dougherty was 9 of 16 passing for 149 yards and two touchdowns for the Bulldogs (2-0), and he also added a 2-yard rushing touchdown to end the scoring. Class AAAA Carrick (0-2), which had a 7-0 lead after the first quarter, has lost 20 of its last 21 games.
