Calls were made Wednesday for the arrest of unrepentant Kenyan first lady Lucy Kibaki for losing her temper and slapping a cameraman in Nairobi.

Videographer Clifford Derrick said he waited a week before asking police to charge her with assault to give her time to apologize, but Kibaki has remained silent, the BBC reported.

Last week, Kibaki stormed the offices of the Daily Nation newspaper and accused the staff of dragging her name through the mud and demanded retractions and a halt to reporting on her personal life. During the five-hour standoff, she ordered Derrick to stop videotaping her and when he didn't, she slapped him in front of several witnesses.

The story the newspaper had reported was about Kibaki storming a neighbor's home three times insisting the music was too loud. On the third visit, she reportedly lunged at the stereo in an attempt to unplug it.

Derrick's attorney said if police don't charge Kibaki, a civil suit would be filed.
