The claim: Keratin Complex's new ultra-light ceramic blow-dryer utilizes a micro-ceramic heating element that styles hair in half the time by drying from the inside out, preventing damage to the outer cuticle. It features 8 custom settings, an attachment nozzle for concentrated airflow, and a cool-shot button to give hair and added shine boost.

Cost: $110

My preteen daughter and I used the hair dryer several times each over a one-week period. Overall, we really liked it. It was lightweight and easy to handle and definitely heated up quickly. We liked that it had several heat settings and liked the shine booster setting as well. My daughter has particularly long, curly hair and this hair dryer got the job done much faster than one we were using at our house that is just a year older, which made for smoother mornings when we are rushing to get out the door to school. One complaint we had is that the attachment was very awkward and cumbersome and nearly impossible to keep connected to the hair dryer.

The Keratin Complex Tempest Mini Pro is an outstanding hair dryer, for sure. It's ceramic and yet lightweight, which is a step up from plastic, and it is a nice compact size that can easily travel in your suitcase. I like how it dries my hair quickly, and has a feature that somehow dries from the inside out, which is good for my sometimes brittle hair. I like the added cool-shot button feature, and the custom settings. Here's my reservation about this: At a steep $110, when many hair dryers sell for $30, I'm not convinced that any hair dryer could be so good that it's worth that much more money.

When travelling, you never know what sort of hair dryer you'll wake up to in your hotel room. If it's one of those wall-attached blasters, you already know a bad hair day is ahead. I've also seen my share of travel dryers that are compact, but sadly lacking in quality and versatility.

I use a wonderful ceramic dryer at home, but between its size and weight, it never makes it into my suitcase. This baby is extraordinary with its professional quality — a good range of settings in both speed and temperature levels, a heavy duty cord and a lightweight, yet solidly built body. I like how the nozzle focuses air directly onto my round brush to smooth those bends and curves into a style that's just right. And it is a quick dry, as promised. A terrific product!
