After arraignment Friday, an Arnold man is being held in lieu of $1 million combined bond for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a woman before leading police on a two-county pursuit.
William Hudson, 45, of the 1700 block of Third Avenue, was formally charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and unlawful restraint.
A week earlier, Pittsburgh and other police departments charged him with about a dozen traffic violations for the pursuit that started in Arnold and ended in Pittsburgh's East Liberty section. He was being held in the Allegheny County Jail in lieu of $900,000 bond until Thursday, when he was moved to the Westmoreland County Prison.
On Friday, he sat in front of a computer and camera for a video arraignment by District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr., who was in his New Kensington office.
Hudson was arraigned for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting Latasha Ross, 30, of Arnold and allowing his dog to bite her mother, Cheryl Johnson, 49, when Johnson pulled her daughter out of an SUV Hudson was driving.
Hudson allegedly grabbed Ross at the Clarion Hotel in New Kensington. About 12 hours later, Johnson pulled her out of the SUV along Woodmont Avenue in Arnold just before the chase started.
Ross and Johnson received medical treatment for their injuries.
On Friday, Hudson said he wasn't on probation or parole prior to the incident. He also wasn't working.
Pallone set bond at $100,000 cash and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Thursday.
It's unclear if the kidnapping and traffic pursuit cases will be combined or if separate hearings will be held.
