Kiski Area hall reveals inductees
The Kiski Area Sports Hall of Fame has announced its third induction class.
The 10 honorees will be inducted at the organization's banquet Sept. 6 at the Clarion Hotel in New Kensington.
This year's group:
• Dem Answine: The Hempfield High graduate was a phys ed instructor at Kiski Area for 36 years and coached the gymnastics team to a 107-63-1 record from 1964-83. His teams won five section titles, was WPIAL runner-up five times and won 40 consective meets in one stretch.
• Angelo Fasano: Football standout was a first team all-stater in 1976 as a defensive back and made the Big 33 team as a quarterback. Earned seven letters at Kiski Area and played on Notre Dame's 1977 national championship team.
• Cammie Biss Fleming: Class of 1989 graduate won eight letters while at Kiski Area. She was a WPIAL finalist in the 100, 200 and the 400-meter relay and holds the school record in the 100. She also was a PIAA finalist four years and competed at the University of Maryland.
• John Gaydeski: One of the early athletic standouts at Kiski Area, he earned six varisty letters in football and track. he was a guard and defensive end on the school's first undefeated football team in 1964 and set the school record in the javelin with a throw of 212-10 in 1965.
• Don Gibbon: The 1982 graduate received seven letters in football, wrestling and track. He was first- team all-conference in football in 1980-81 before moving on to Mercyhurst College.
• Tom Giotto: The quarterback/safety on Kiski Area's lone WPIAL champion in 1971, Giotto was third team all-state as a safety. In 1971, he was the WPIAL champion in the high hurdles and intermediate hurdles before becoming a Penn State scholar-athlete as a safety for Joe Paterno.
• Terry Hartford: The 1977 graduate excelled in swimming, football and track, earning eight varsity letters. He was the WPIAL champion in the 100-yard breaststroke and fifth in the PIAA. Hartford also swam and ran track for Allegheny College.
• Jim Meighan: A member of the first Cavaliers football team in 1962, he stood out in the school's first victory. He captained football, basketball and baseball teams at Kiski Area and later coached football and track at Blairsville.
• Ellen Mangus Toy: A four-year letter-winner in volleyball, Mangus Toy was a member of the 1979 state runner-up. She received a scholarship to Pitt and later coached at Norwin, Plum, Leechburg and Kiski Area.
• Denny Wuyscik: Multitalented standout in football, basketball and baseball, he earned eight varsity letters. He was an all-state defensive end and played on the basketball team that nearly deraiIed Carlisle's four-year reign as PIAA champions. He was all-section twice in baseball before moving on to Bucknell University.

Thursday night football
The fourth season of FSN Pittsburgh's Thursday night high school football kicks off Sept. 4 when Seneca Valley plays host to Erie McDowell at NexTier Stadium.
Two local schools are scheduled: Plum visits Franklin Regional on Sept. 18, and Highlands pays its first visit to Mars High School on Sept. 25.
Rivalries will be part of this season's schedule. Aliquippa welcome Beaver Falls on Sept. 11, and Penn Hills will play Central Catholic at Canegie Mellonon on Oct. 2.
All regular-season games will begin at 7 p.m., and the network will telecast the four WPIAL finals on Nov. 22 at Heinz Field.
