Kittanning takes down Karns City

Kittanning jumped out to 21-4 lead after the first quarter and used the big start to fuel a 76-50 win over Karns City in a non-section game Wednesday.

Led by Nathan Stolitza's 22 points, the Wildcats (6-6) rebounded from a defeat one night earlier to Deer Lakes and snapped a two-game losing streak.

Kittanning's Dylan Klingensmith and Sam McCanna also had big nights, posting 17 and 16 points, respectively.

Tucker Preston had 10 points to pace Karns City.

WRESTLING

Shady Side Academy 46, Kittanning 33 — Kittanning won just two of the 13 contested matches in a Section 3A-AA dual meet at Shady Side Academy. At 215 pounds, Kittanning's Wes Schmidt recorded a 6-4 decision in overtime, while 125-pound teammate Brent Ingram recorded a pin. The Wildcats won four other matches by forfeit.

Laurel 47, West Shamokin 28 — Just five matches were contested, as West Shamokin dropped a Section 3A-AA match to Laurel. West Shamokin's Chuck Brown recorded a pin in the 160-pound match, and 171-pounder Zane King gave the Wolves their only other contested win, with a 16-3 major decision.
