K&L Gates, one of Pittsburgh's largest law firms, ranked first in law firm performance during the recession, according to the "Global 100" issue of American Lawyer. The trade publication ranked American and British law firms' performance through the financial crisis in terms of growth in number of partners, and revenue and profit per partner. The other major Pittsburgh firm to make the list was Reed Smith, which ranked 17th.
