Penn Hebron Elementary officials will host the grand opening of the K'Nex Kingdom Amusement Park on April 22 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the school, located at 102 Duff Road.

As part of a $10,000 Grable Foundation grant, the project provided 12 classrooms of fourth-graders with an integrated approach to Newton's Laws of Motion, part of the fourth-grade science curriculum.

Students heard from Kennywood officials about how rides operate and what scientific principles they utilize. During the school years, students designed and built their scale rides using K'Nex building materials, documenting their progress using video and written journals.

The “rides” at this year's park include light-up Ferris Wheels, double-track roller coasters and more.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 412-793-7000.
