Korbe co-defendant gets probation

A federal judge sentenced a Hampton man Friday to 30 months of probation for participating in an insurance fraud scheme with the husband of an Indiana Township woman convicted of killing a federal agent.

Ronald Burkharth pleaded guilty in October to helping Robert Korbe, 41, fake a 2009 burglary of his home by taking his motorcycle so that he could get $29,000 from an insurance company.

Christina Korbe, 42, pleaded guilty to charges of killing FBI Agent Sam Hicks as he led a team of law enforcement agents into the Korbes' home Nov. 19, 2009, to arrest Robert Korbe on drug charges.

U.S. District Judge Terrence McVerry ordered Burkharth to spend the first three months of his probation on home confinement and pay $20,365 in restitution.
