A cabin exploded in Lancaster County, killing the homeowner and injuring a firefighter battling intense flames.

Shortly after neighbors called 911 at 4:50 p.m. Saturday, firefighters arrived to find "heavy fire throughout" the single-family cabin in Salisbury Township, said Gap Fire Co. Chief Brad Kurtz.

Lisa Newnam, one of the neighbors who felt the blast and called 911, said the property was "gone by the time the tanker trucks got there."

Kurtz did not know the victim's identity. Two neighbors said the man moved there from California several months ago.

One firefighter was taken to a hospital for treatment after she slipped and fell on the slick road.

Kurtz said the cause of the explosion was not immediately known.
