SUNDAY
7 p.m. -- Patriotic Interfaith Service at Latrobe Elementary School auditorium, Ligonier Street. Theme is "Latrobe, Someplace Special," with Mary Lou Townsend as guest speaker. Patriotic selections by a 60-voice choir. Dawna Bates is the program coordinator. Admission is free.
JUNE 29
5 p.m. -- Midway activities, amusement rides, crafts, food and game booths open.
5 p.m. -- 5-mile run/2-mile walk registration opens at Memorial Stadium, Irving Avenue side.
6 p.m. -- Bingo provided by the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Tony Angelo Aerie, No. 01188, Legion Keener Park large pavilion.
6:30 p.m. -- Double XL Band, Legion Keener Park band shell.
7 p.m. -- 5-mile run/2-mile walk begins on Irving Avenue. Awards ceremony will be held at Memorial Stadium. One-mile splits, water stops and first aid available. Registration fee $18 if postmarked by Thursday; $23 on race day. For information, call 724-537-8417.

3 p.m.-- Doggie Fourth of July Pageant and Games; registration near band shell. Pre-registration at www.latrobe4thofjuly.com. Dogs must be registered ($5 each) to be eligible for prizes.
5 p.m. -- Baking contest registration, provided by Dainty Pastry Shoppe, at the small pavilion.
6 p.m. -- Baking contest, coordinated by Dainty Pastry Shoppe & AWAIC of Latrobe, Legion Keener Park.
6:30 p.m. -- Off Limits Band, Legion Keener Park band shell.
JULY 2
5 p.m. -- Midway activities, amusement rides, crafts, food and game booths open.

JULY 4
9 a.m.-- Parade lineup at Memorial Stadium parking lot, Memorial Drive, and parking lots at the American Legion, Martin Complex, Latrobe Specialty Metals and along right side of Ligonier Street to all of Irving Avenue. No chairs, blankets or ropes can be placed on city property before 8:30 p.m. July 3 to reserve a spot along the parade route. Property placed before then will be removed.
10:30 a.m. -- Parade begins, starting at Irving Avenue and following Ligonier Street to Main Street to Jefferson Street. Parade ends by Valley Dairy. Throwing of candy from moving vehicles is not permitted.
1 p.m. -- Midway activities open -- amusement rides, crafts, food and game booths open; Bingo at Legion Keener Park large pavilion; CC & Co., Legion Keener Park band shell.
2 p.m. -- Horseshoe pitching contest, ending with presentation of awards near the Legion Keener Park Tee- Pee Pavilion.
4 p.m. -- T. J. Deglau, Legion Keener Park small pavilion.
6 p.m. -- Shooters Band, Legion Keener Park band shell.
9:30 p.m. -- Fireworks in the Legion Keener Park area provided by Keystone Fireworks Co. Rain date is July 7.
10 p.m. -- Midway activities close after the fireworks.

About the grand marshal
Maj. Gen. Randall Marchi will serve as the grand marshal for Latrobe's Fourth of July celebration parade, which has a theme of "Stars and Stripes Forever."
Marchi is the commanding general, 28th Infantry Division of the Pennsylvania National Guard. He became commander in June 2009 and is responsible for the planning and execution of readiness programs with special emphasis on maintenance, personnel and training readiness in support of combat missions.
In 1973, Marchi enlisted in the Army National Guard. He was commissioned in 1980 through the officer candidate school program at the Pennsylvania National Guard Military Academy, and was assigned to Headquarters, 28th Infantry Division Artillery. He has held numerous command positions, including commander of 28th Infantry Division Artillery, 1st Battalion, 108th Field Artillery; and Battery F, 109th Field Artillery.
Marchi previously served as assistant adjutant general -- Army, Pennsylvania National Guard, Pennsylvania Joint Force Headquarters. He was promoted from brigadier general to major general in July 2009.

Civilian occupation:
Marchi is the director of the Office of the Auditor General in Harrisburg. He oversees an audit bureau that conducts governmental financial and performance audits. He is a certified public accountant, certified fraud examiner and certified government financial manager.
