When I read the Trib editorial criticizing Republican Congressman John Boehner for his "ignorance" in arguing that spending millions of the stimulus-package money on contraceptives would not stimulate the economy (" Boehner's ignorance ," Jan. 27 and PghTrib.com), I had to check to make sure that "other paper" hadn't entered my home uninvited!

Kudos to Boehner for -- GASP! --speaking truth and common sense.

Here's a jolt for the writer(s) of that editorial: The U.S. federal government has already spent millions of taxpayer money on "contraceptives" -- code word for abortion -- since Roe v. Wade was foisted on the country. The long-term result• This country has lost 40 million working people who could be using their talents to grow the economy, the tax rolls and the Social Security funds.

Advocating the continued elimination of people (who happen inconveniently to be babies) in the name of "economic benefit" to the government is jaw-dropping. Valuing the state over human beings is a communistic belief.

Maybe some of those children are "destined to become financial wards of the state" because of the irresponsible actions of their parents. But I'll bet that a huge number were destined to become good, productive and responsible citizens of this great nation.

And I'm positive that we lost a few great leaders who would have had better ideas for improving the economy than simply getting rid of people.
