You can’t get any more accommodating for breakfast than the Lite Bite Delite in Feldarelli Square, New Kensington. You can fax your order in and even have it delivered. This smart deli-style eatery continues to impress us. The Lunch Bunch visited here several years ago, but when we realized we could go back and have breakfast, the Lite Bite was back on our list of potential ventures. We all enjoy breakfast, but sometimes, it’s tough to take time out and leave the office in the morning. Why not have breakfast in the office• This seemed like a good idea, especially since our Friday breakfast club fizzled out from same-old-doughnut syndrome. The Omelette ($3.75), which we had with cheese, traveled well back to the office. It still was light and fluffy and plumped up with a slice of American cheese inside the egg envelope. If you are a hearty eater, try the Waffles ($4). You get four 4-inch square, thick and chewy waffles in this selection with lots of maple syrup to drizzle over the top or dip, as you prefer. Included was a note telling us to heat the waffles, because they would have been soggy in a foam container by the time they reached their destination. Indeed; they heated just fine and maintained their fluffy texture. We found the Syrian Toast ($1) to be a crispy, chewy change of pace from regular white toast. The grape jam that came in a little cup was the perfect touch. The Wheat Wrap ($4) featured scrambled egg, American cheese and a thin sausage patty enveloped in a 10-inch whole wheat tortilla. We liked the idea that you can eat this breakfast sandwich with one hand without dripping grease and goo all over the front of you. This is a great, filling, grab-‘n-go sandwich, and we would have another in a heartbeat. The Egg, Cheese and Bacon Croissant ($3.75) was excellent. The croissant was fresh; the eggs were fluffy; the cheese nicely melted; and the bacon was crispy without being burnt. The croissant makes an excellent choice for a carry-out. It travels well and arrived at the office still warm and fresh. You can order ham or sausage with your croissant instead of the bacon for the same price; or, you can order just an egg and cheese croissant for $3. As a treat for our co-workers in the office, we brought back a Pumpkin Roll ($5) that folks fawned over because of its rich, moist spicy cake and that wonderful cream cheese filling. One was lucky enough to also try a hefty Apple Dumpling, which was filled to the brim with juicy apples and topped with a lightly cinnamon-dusted crust. It was almost too big for one person, but somehow, he managed to find room for each and every bite. Of course, if you really want to make a morning of it, Lite Bite Delite has seating available, and you could graze all day. You’ll probably spend more calories, because the eatery has all these enticing goodies available. That’s how we brought back the Pumpkin Roll and Apple Dumpling. Who can resist• Not us, and probably not all the office workers and clients in the dozen-and- a-half businesses and doctors’ offices. Compiled by Rebecca Killian, Barbara Daugherty and Sis Reola.
