General manager Dave Littlefield said there might be some changes to the 40-man roster so players can be called up when rosters expand Sept. 1.

“We’ll evaluate all of it,” Littlefield said.

Infielders Steven Pearce and Brian Bixler would have to be added to the 40-man before being called up. The players who join the team when rosters expand should not expect to get much playing time.

“It’s more a get-a-taste type thing — being around the scene, the major league parks, the TV, the competition,” Littlefield said. &#149 The Giants are expected to select a pitcher off the Pirates’ 40-man roster to complete the Matt Morris trade.
