A CareerLink Internet site for the Pittsburgh area was launched Thursday, the first local version of the state’s job search site. The site, www.careerlinkpittsburgh.com , has a front page that is geared toward western Pennsylvania, listing job openings and other employment-related events in the region. Job seekers can post resumes on the site. Promoters say the site will streamline the process of looking for work and, from the employers perspective, hiring. “You can go to Monster.com or one of the bigger Web sites, but you might wind up with a job in Topeka,” said Margaret Fallica, the regional director of the state Bureau of Employer and Career Services. “But not everyone wants to move.” Fallica, who expects the site to become this region’s definitive job bank, said the site will eventually be a promotional tool for the Pittsburgh area. “We have a good work force, but this site will make that much more obvious to those out of town who may want to do business here,” she said .
