The Pitt-Johnstown wrestling team, featuring several local wrestlers, is ranked No. 5 in Division II, according to the National Wrestling Coaches' Association poll.
Last weekend, the Mountain Cats finished 1-2 against Division I teams at the Lock Haven Duals.
Senior 184-pounder Mike Corcetti (Kiski Area) and senior heavyweight Zach Majocha (Burrell) went 2-1 against the higher level competition. Individually, Corcetti is ranked No. 3 in the nation in Division II.
Other local members of the Pitt-Johnstown team are freshman 141-pounder Jon Dragun (Fox Chapel), freshman 184-pounder Damian Majocha (Burrell), freshman 174-pounder Jon Moore (Kiski Area), freshman 165-pounder Jordan Moore (Kiski Area), sophomore 149-pounder Dan Simon (Fox Chapel) and freshman 197-pounder Nathan Tomporoski (Highlands).

Kent State
Sophomore guard Mike McKee (Plum) is averaging 9.1 points per game and has made 20-of-46 attempts from 3-point range for the Golden Flashes (8-2).
Kent State is ranked No. 17 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll.
Juniata
Senior forward Brent Ferko (Freeport) is averaging 11.2 points per game for his Division III team.
Ferko, the 2003-04 Valley News Dispatch Boys Basketball Player of the Year, has started all nine game for Juniata (5-4).

Freshman Ellie Hess (Burrell) was a member of the 800-meter freestyle relay team that set a school record of 8:07.07 at the Ashland Invitational.
Also for Division II Gannon, junior Seth Hazlett (Kiski Area) was a member of the 400 freestyle relay team that set a school record with a time of 3:10.48 at Ashland.
