Schools closing Parents and students in the Connellsville Area School District are reminded of proceduresin effect when it becomes necessary to close or delay school because of bad weather or other emergency conditions. In cases of morning cancellation or delay, the information will be announced by area radio and television stations, starting on the 6 a.m. news broadcasts. Stations asked to announce Connelslville Area School information are WMBS-Uniontown; FROGGY-Brownsville; KDKA-Pittsburgh; WTAE-Pittsburgh; WPXI-Pittsburgh; and the school district cable television channel. When the decision is made to close school the evening before a school day, the announcements will be made no later than 11 p.m. Early dismissals also will be announced over the stations, with as much advance warning to parents as possible. Parents who work or may be away from home during the day for other reasons are advised to make arrangements for a relative or neighbor to care for small children. Parents and students are asked to refrain from calling school offices, school officials or radio and television stations since these phones must be available for communication during an emergency. Announcements regarding the cancellation and rescheduling of events will be made during the day as decisions are made on these matters. Following a school closing, school will be scheduled for the next normal school day unlessa further announcement is made advising otherwise.
