Man, 105, meets potential bride on Web

A 105-year-old Chinese man looking for a younger wife and his 50-year-old potential bride have met for the first time via the Internet.

After Gong Duruo traveled from Inner Mongolia to the southwestern city of Chengdu in search of a bride, local media supported his quest. In the central China city of X'ian, a Miss Zhang heard about the centenarian and contacted media there, the China Daily reported Tuesday.

"I am moved and greatly appreciate the old man's optimistic attitude to life. I hope to meet this old man," Zhang told a reporter.

With the help of the media in the two cities, Zhang and Gong went to Internet bars at 2 p.m. Monday. They met each other online using a video chat service.

After exchanging contact information, they signed off.

"He is a good talker and a sensitive man who looks only 70. Apart from being hard of hearing, he is in good health. We need to know more about each other before talking about marriage," Zhang said.

Gong said: "I never expected to meet someone like Zhang with modern technology. I could see that she is an able and virtuous woman. I will keep in contact with her."
