A man who called himself the Antichrist used computers at South Hills public libraries to send e-mails in which he threatened to kill President Bush, federal authorities allege. Barry Clinton Eckstrom, 51, of Upper St. Clair, sent the e-mails -- many of them written in verse and with words misspelled -- from computers at public libraries in Upper St. Clair, Mt. Lebanon and Bethel Park, according to a criminal complaint filed Monday in federal court. Eckstrom, who also wrote about plotting rapes and murders, began sending his threatening e-mails in April to a member of a group called the Atlantic Paranormal Society, who then alerted the FBI in Providence, R.I., according to a statement filed by a Secret Service agent. "Which young woman will next drink from my bloody cup," one e-mail read. It was signed, "Aurevor, Menstruation Mary." During an undercover surveillance, federal agents caught Eckstrom using a computer at the Bethel Park public library typing a message on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Web site in which he threatened to kill Bush in June, according to court documents. He had typed the message to make it appear as if it were sent by a person associated with the paranormal society, the documents state. "Let's ASSASSINATE President Bush by putting a bullet in his Brain!" read another e-mail sent April 22. "July 17th will be SLAUGHTER most Foul! The United States should throw in the Towell (sic)." Eckstrom is accused of writing another rhyme about raping and killing on April 26. "Evading the Police is my game, Murdering young women has brought me fame," it reads. "George Bush is his name, Getting ASSASSINATED is his game." On April 30: "Let's Assasinate(sic) President Bush, Lit (sic) a Stick of Dynamite in his Tush!" The e-mails referenced characters in the reality television show "Ghost Hunters," which features members of the Atlantic Paranormal Society. The show airs on cable TV's Sci-Fi Channel. Eckstrom, who faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine, appeared yesterday before U.S. District Magistrate Judge Robert Mitchell. Eckstrom, who weighs 138 pounds, said he has an undergraduate degree, but no job, and savings of $6,600. He faces a detention hearing before Mitchell today.
