A 41-year-old Ohio man, who claims he was pressured to quit his job at McDonald’s because he has AIDS, is suing the fast-food giant for discrimination. Russell Rich sued McDonald’s in 2001 and was awarded $5 million, but the verdict was overturned when an appeals court said the fast-food company had not received a fair trial. Now Rich is trying again, WTAM in Cleveland reports. He claims he was pressured to leave his position as a McDonald’s corporate manager because he has AIDS. McDonald’s denies the allegations and says the corporation had a “zero-tolerance policy” regarding discrimination. Rich told WTAM if he wins again, he plans to use the award to start a foundation to help people get AIDS medications. © Copyright 2005 by United Press International
