JEFFERSON, Pa. — An explosion leveled a home last night, killing one man.
The Greene County fire marshal was at the scene this morning trying to figure out what caused the blast shortly before midnight, Jefferson Township fire officials said.
Crews from Equitable Gas Co. also were on the scene, but they didn’t immediately find problems with gas piping or other infrastructure that would have caused the blast, a company spokesman said.
Authorities didn’t immediately identify the victim, but said he was the only person in the home, about 40 miles south of Pittsburgh.
About a half-dozen homes nearby were evacuated.
The man lived with his parents in the one-story home.
