A judge in Minnesota has sentenced a St. Paul man to 90 days in jails for locking his ex-girlfriend's daughter in a dog kennel to punish her. Eric Bare and Deborah Cameron both pleaded guilty to unreasonable restraint of a child. Cameron received a 30-day sentence last month, but a judge decided that Bare had greater responsibility, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported. The couple was charged with shutting the 11-year-old girl in a kennel for three days in August 2003 and seven days that October. The kennel was described as a box 12 feet long, 5 feet wide and 6 feet high in a warehouse basement next to the duplex where the couple lived. Bare admitted forcing the girl to spend one night in the kennel naked and strip-searching her twice because he thought she might have a key. The girl is now in the custody of her father, who refused to comment on the case. His lawyer said that James Coleman could not think of a suitable punishment for Bare. © Copyright 2005 by United Press International
