Video surveillance helped police identify a suspect in an indecent assault involving a 5-year-old child at a Hempfield department store. Clint Helmick, 43, of Canonsburg in Washington County, is charged by state police at Greensburg with indecent assault. Police allege Helmick assaulted the girl at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Gabriel Brothers department store. The girl was on a shopping trip with her mother, aunt and brother at the time, according to police. Police said video surveillance of a man making a purchase. The victim also identified Helmick as her assailant, authorities said. Charges were filed with Hempfield District Judge Mark Mansour. Helmick is free on $75,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is tentatively slated for Sept. 14.
