A 57-year-old Ligonier Township man was killed early Wednesday when his pickup truck veered off Route 30 and flipped on its side.

Thomas G. Peters, of Clark Hollow Road, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday by Deputy Coroner Dennis Johns.

Johns said Peters died of blunt force trauma.

Area emergency crews had to extricate Peters from the Chevrolet pickup truck he was driving.

Peters was westbound on Route 30, about 150 yards west of the Route 259 intersection, when his truck veered onto the berm of the highway and flipped on to its side into a culvert. Toxicology results are pending, Johns said.
