A man claiming to have a weapon robbed the Family Dollar Store in Unity Township Tuesday afternoon.

The robbery occurred about 5 p.m. at the Unity Plaza store along Route 30 near Latrobe. State police at Greensburg said the suspect was a heavy-set white male in his early 40s with "shaggy" brown hair. He was wearing a ball cap and jeans with a hole in the knee.

An employee, who was not there at the time of the robbery, said the man approached a female clerk at the front register and demanded cash, claiming he had a gun. He fled with an undetermined amount of money.

Further information from state police was not available.
