A Western Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to 3 1/2 to seven years in prison in the beating death of a man stemming from a fight over a DVD.
Henry Colvin, 49, was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to aggravated assault and involuntary manslaughter in the April 21 death of Theodore Wilkins, 36. Charges of criminal homicide and assault were dismissed.
Washington County Judge Debbie O’Dell Seneca earlier ruled that Colvin could not be tried on murder charges. His son, Tyrone Colvin-Broughton, 20, pleaded guilty earlier to involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 1.5 to three years in prison.
Assistant District Attorney Mike Lucas said an autopsy concluded that Wilkins died of a slow hemorrhage probably caused by Colvin. He went out with friends after the fight and died the next morning while sleeping at a friend’s house.
