Charges of marijuana possession were filed today against Penn State football players Abe Koroma and Maurice Evans at the office of District Magisterial Judge Carmine Prestia in State College.

The charges stem from an incident Sept. 2 at the on-campus apartment the players share with two other players.

University Police responded to a complaint about loud music. The arrest documents state that an odor of burnt marijuana was present and, after a search warrant was obtained, marijuana was found in rooms belonging to Koroma and Evans.

In the case of Koroma, it was described as a "burnt roach containing marijuana."

In Evans room, the evidence was described as "three small clear baggies containing marijuana" and a "burnt roach containing marijuana."

The charges are listed as Class D misdemeanors.

Evans and Koroma had been starting defensive linemen, but had been suspended the past two games.

Penn State athletic spokesman Jeff Nelson had no comment on the status of the players.

Lisa Powers, spokesman for the school's Office of Judicial Affairs, said the arrests would be investigated by that office for violations of the school's code of conduct.
