Mary Travers will join Peter Yarrow and Paul Stookey for their annual New York holiday concert, seven months after undergoing a bone marrow transplant. Travers, 69, found out in December that her acute myelogenous leukemia had returned. A posting on the Peter, Paul and Mary Web site seeking bone marrow donors and good wishes received an overwhelming response, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday. A marrow donor was found in April and Travers received more than 10,000 e-mail messages, including messages from Judy Collins and Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., the Daily News said. Longtime fan Paul Kehoe organized all the wishes in three-ring binders and said Travers read every single one of them. “She particularly loved that a lot of people sent jokes,” he said. During rehearsals for a Dec. 9 concert at Carnegie Hall, Travers said recent tests showed no leukemia cells and she feels much better. © Copyright 2005 by United Press International
