Massive tire crushes shop worker to death
The owner of an industrial tire shop was killed when a tire weighing at least 8,000 pounds fell on him and crushed him, officials said.
Allen Craft died yesterday at Craft Tire in North Union Township about 1:35 p.m.
Glenn Heller, a sales representative at Craft, said Allen Craft founded the business and owned it for 25 years.
Fayette County Coroner Phillip Reilly said the tire that struck Craft weighed between 8,000 and 12,000 pounds. He said Craft was either tagging the tires or working with instruction sheets when the tire tipped over and onto him.
