A McKees Rocks man is in the Allegheny County Jail, accused in a shooting in the borough.
Kenneth Barner, 31, is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and tampering with physical evidence in connection with Thursday night's shooting of Thomas Jamal Rickey, 25, of McKees Rocks, according to McKees Rocks police Chief Robert Cifrulak.
Rickey went to Barner's Marion Street home at about 11:30 p.m. to visit his sister, who lives with Barner, according to the chief, who said there apparently is "bad blood" between the men. Rickey was only a few steps inside the home when Barner shot him, Cifrulak said.
Rickey was taken to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment, but was able to speak with detectives, Cifrulak said. Barner remained at the home and told police he was defending himself -- an account witnesses disputed, according to police, who found two handguns hidden in the backyard.
