Desiree Catherine Wilson, 24, of McKees Rocks is charged with intimidating a witness through Facebook threats made to an unnamed 23-year-old woman from Hempfield who is assisting police in prosecuting a heroin ring that had been operating in Westmoreland and Allegheny counties.
An Allegheny County woman has been charged with sending threatening Facebook messages to a witness set to testify against members of an alleged heroin distribution ring.

Desiree Catherine Wilson, 24, of McKees Rocks was arrested on Thursday by state police on charges of witness intimidation, retaliation against a witness and terroristic threats.

Earlier this month, Wilson allegedly sent threatening messages through Facebook to an unnamed 23-year-old woman who has been cooperating with police in prosecuting members of the alleged multi-county heroin ring.

More than 20 people were arrested between February and June for participating in the drug ring, which allegedly is led by James Stephen Moore.

Police said Moore was captured in West Mifflin in April with the help of the unnamed witness, who is prepared to testify against Moore and others in the drug case in Westmoreland County Court as well as a separate firearms case against Moore in Allegheny County.

Police said Wilson knows Moore and another person arrested in the drug ring, Kristen Marie Weightman. Wilson was on Weightman's visitor list at the Westmoreland County jail and has visited her twice.

In the Facebook messages, Wilson allegedly told the witness “My sister is Kristen” and to “watch the (expletive) out.”

“Snitches get stitches baby girl and I'm all about my family and guess what Kristin and Jae will be home eventually baby girl jail ain't gonna keep them forever,” another message allegedly said.

Wilson also told the witness she was going to ruin her life and told her to jump off a bridge.

Police matched the photo associated with the Facebook account that sent the threatening messages to Wilson.

Wilson was arraigned on Thursday before Hempfield District Judge James Falcon. She was sent to the Westmoreland County jail after failing to post $50,000 bond.

She faces a preliminary hearing on Oct. 2.
