Med-Fast buys former Mosso's in Hempfield
Aliquippa-based Med-Fast recently bought the former Mosso's Pharmacy, inside the Hempfield Shop 'n Save at Route 136 and Janyce Drive.
The site, which opened several weeks ago, is Med-Fast's 19th location and second in Westmoreland County. Med-Fast also operates a pharmacy inside the Shop 'n Save at the Davis Shopping Center on East Pittsburgh Street in Greensburg.
"They're (Mosso's) an independent pharmacy, and there aren't too many of us left. Their main concern was not selling to a chain, and we were the first phone call on their list," said Bryan Bisceglia, director of marketing and sales for Med-Fast.
The store is open seven days a week. More information can be obtained by calling 724-850-8501.
Bisceglia did not disclose the purchase price. He said that Med-Fast pharmacies generally employ about 10 workers, depending upon traffic and sales. Bisceglia said Med-Fast Pharmacy employs about 225 workers companywide.
* The Norwin Teachers Federal Credit Union has a new home -- a brand new, 2,700-square-foot building near the old Circleville school in North Huntingdon.
The credit union, which has about 1,800 members, moved into the offices in June. "We built our new federal credit union building on the playground of the old school house," said Amy Lichwa, CEO of the credit union.
The group used to be housed in the Landmark Pavilion in the old Circleville school. "We built this from scratch," said Lichwa, who did not disclose how much was spent for the new building. She said the group had its grand opening last week, and Cub Scout Pack 252 of North Huntingdon earned a badge for raising the American flag.
