Meet the staff
A Harrison native and Tarentum resident, he has been an assistant city editor for 16 years.
Williams has won awards for investigative reporting from The Associated Press, the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association and a Golden Quill regional award.
He also has won the Ray Sprigle Memorial Award, which is the top journalism award given in Western Pennsylvania.
Williams also was runner-up in the Best of Gannett competition for community service, and coordinated an investigative series honored by The Associated Press Managing Editors Association.
The 12-section project appearing today and for the next two Sundays is the 12th for which Williams has served as coordinator since 1996.
Nine of the previous 11 have won top honors in the VND's circulation category in statewide newspaper contests.
She is responsible for daily editing and design of news and special sections for the Valley News Dispatch and the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
A Philadelphia native and Aspinwall resident, Johnston has co-designed the past five special sections for the Valley News Dispatch.
Shean is a New Kensington resident and Lower Burrell native.
She is a graduate of Duquesne University and Oakbridge Academy of Arts.
Shean is a past winner of a first-place Keystone Press Award for a graphic/photo illustration from the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association.
This is the sixth year in which she has collaborated on this project's graphics.
