Michael Baker Corp. reports increase in profits

Michael Baker Corp. reported a 35.7 percent increase in second-quarter profits, even though its revenue slumped by 8 percent.

The Moon-based company recorded net income of $8.3 million, or 93 cents a share, up from $6.1 million, or 69 cents one year ago.

Revenue during the period totaled $170.9 million, down from $185.8 million one year ago.
