Mid Mon Valley Hall inducts members

The Mid Mon Valley All Sports Hall of Fame inducted seven members in a June 16 ceremony at California University.

The inductees are:

&#149 James Bayens, a 1948 Charleroi graduate. Bayens served as a baseball executive for the St. Louis Cardinals.

&#149 The late Peter Daley Sr., a 1939 Brownsville graduate. Daley played football at Pitt and coached high school football at Ellsworth and Centerville.

&#149 Brad Ferrara, a 1988 graduate of Ringgold. Ferrara was a PIAA 100-meter dash champion in 1988.

&#149 Ron Hughes, a 1961 graduate of Charleroi. Hughes is a college scouting coordinator for the Steelers.

&#149 Bob Johnson, a 1960 graduate of Monongahela. Johnson was a two-sport star (football and basketball) and won a Big 6 football scoring title.

&#149 Dennis Laskey, a 1968 Charleroi graduate. Laskey was a successful soccer coach at California University.

&#149 Tom Parks, a 1978 graduate of Belle Vernon. Parks led Belle Vernon to the school's first WPIAL basketball title in 1978.

Baseball legend Stan Musial and football great Bert Rechichar were the first athletes inducted in the Mid Mon Valley All Sports Hall of Fame, in 1951. Since then, the inductees include Joe Montana and Ken Griffey Sr.
