A Minneapolis-area store allows consumers to make that final purchase at a steep discount.

Caskets & More sells coffin and urns at about half what a funeral home would charge, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. There are layaway plans for those who like to plan ahead.

Thomas Wegner Jr., who owns the store with his father, told the newspaper they decided to get into the casket business after watching his grandmother struggle to pay the bills after his grandfather's death.

The son is a former car dealer and his father a retired IBM sales manager. Caskets & More has given them a chance to relax.

"On a busy day, we will see two to three families," said the son. "It's not a real fast-paced business and we're thankful for that for all of us."

Old habits die hard, however, and they have advertised for customers to come in and beat the spring rush."
