How the Pirates' minor-league affiliates fared in games played Wednesday: NASHVILLE (46-50) won, 9-6, at home against Tacoma (Mariners). Bo Donaldson (1-1) won in relief of starter Steve Sparks, who allowed six runs (three earned) on five hits in five innings. Sparks walked four and struck out five. Brian Smith got his fifth save. 3B Luis Figueroa went 2 for 3. ALTOONA (41-55) won, 13-6, at Bowie (Orioles). Jose Lopez (1-2) started and won, allowing six runs (four earned) on eight hits in five innings. RF Shane Monahan went 3 for 6 with a solo homer (No. 1). 3B Lee Evans went 3 for 6 with a double, homer (No. 8) and two runs batted in. DH Darren Burton homered (No. 6) and drove in three runs. LF Dan Meier went 2 for 5 with a solo homer (No. 5) CF Tony Alvarez had three hits. LYNCHBURG (41-51/14-11 second half) lost, 7-2, at Potomac (Cardinals). Landon Jacobson (1-6) started and lost, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits in seven innings. He walked two and struck out five. CF B.J. Barns had three hits and two RBI. 1B Chris Combs went 2 for 4. HICKORY (47-49/18-8) won, 8-3, at Kannapolis (White Sox). Chris Young tossed a complete game, allowing six hits and striking out six. 1B Jeremy Cotten went 3 for 5 with two doubles. CF Victor Buttler went 2 for 3 with a triple. 3B Efren Espinoza hit a solo homer (No. 5). WILLIAMSPORT (18-10) lost, 3-1, at Utica (Marlins). Roberto Novoa (2-2) started and lost, allowing three runs on five hits in six innings. He struck out four. C Chris Shelton went 2 for 4. 3B Jose Bautista hit a solo homer (No. 3). BRADENTON (8-14) lost, 4-1, against the Red Sox. Josh Shortslef (1-1) started and lost, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits in five innings. He walked one and struck out four. 3B Mark Taylor went 1 for 3 with a run scored. C Milver Reyer had the lone RBI with a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.
