How the Pirates’ minor league affiliates fared in games played Friday: Nashville (42-49) won 6-3 at Oklahoma (Rangers). Steve Sparks (3-3) started and won, allowing two runs and four hits in six innings. He struck out six and walked four. RF Alex Hernandez was 3 for 5 with a solo home run (No. 6). 1B Andy Barkett was 2 for 4. C Humberto Cota was 2 for 4. Altoona (38-53) lost 3-1 at Reading (Phillies). Jose Lopez (0-2) started and lost, allowing one run and six hits in six innings. He struck out three and walked one. CF Tony Alvarez was 2 for 4. LF Dan Meier was 1 for 3 with a double and a run batted in. Lynchburg (40-47/13-7 in second half) lost 4-3 at home against Frederick (Orioles). Landon Jacobsen (1-5) started and lost, allowing three runs and 11 hits in 8{2/3} innings. He struck out three and walked two. SS Jose Castillo had two hits, including a solo homer (No. 5). 1B Chris Combs was 2 for 4. Hickory (42-49/13-8) won 4-1 at Delmarva (Orioles). Mike Connolly (8-2) pitched a complete-game two-hitter, allowing one run and two hits in nine innings. He struck out six and walked none. 2B Ray Navarette was 2 for 4 with a double. SS Brandon Chaves was 1 for 4 with a triple and two RBI. Williamsport (14-9) won 4-2 at New Jersey (Cardinals). Dan D’Amato (1-0) won in relief of starter Robert Novoa, who allowed one run and six hits in 6{2/3} innings. He struck out five and walked one. Jeff Miller earned his third save. LF Chris Duffy was 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI. 3B Jose Bautista was 2 for 4 with a solo homer (No. 2). Bradenton (7-11) had the first game of a doubleheader against the Gulf Coast League Orioles suspended because of rain. The second game was rained out.
