MIRACLE SKIN
Miracle Skin Transformer’s Body SPF 20
The claim: This temporary bronzing moisturizer won’t rub off on clothes and washes off with just one shower. If the skin on your legs looks uneven or splotchy, apply a light layer of the super-light lotion to disguise imperfections on your skin. The go-to perfecting product is a skin savior, thanks to SPF 20 and a slight tint and shimmer to give a warm glow to pale, white skin. Adding a bit more coverage helps to disguise scars, veins or bruises for flawless-looking legs. Available in Bronze, Glow and Sheer shades.

Cost: $34

Where: Sephora or www.sephora.com and www.miracleskintransformer.com

Forget the gold. I’m going for the bronze.

Miracle Skin Transformer is definitely not just another moisturizer. I’m so excited to have found this bronze enhancer in the waning weeks of summer, because I know I’ll be losing my oh-so-slight tan very soon.

I fretted during the initial application, thinking its milk-chocolate color would be much too dark for my fair skin, but I was left with a gorgeous glow that was set within a minute. Ingredients including jojoba oil, amino acids and algae left my skin soft and smooth.

I was pleasantly surprised by the moisturizer’s fragrance, which was very much like sunscreen and not at all akin to the wretched scent that self-tanners and bronzing moisturizers typically have. The scent lingered, which I found to be a pleasant thing, although that just made me wish I was poolside with a margarita in hand.

Miracle Skin Transformer cannot be used on your face, so I concentrated on my arms, legs and decolletage. Good luck trying to find the sun damage on my shoulders now!

The only downside I could find was that a lot of the product goes a little way. So, at $34 a pop, Miracle Skin Transformer likely will be relegated to special occasions.

It’s true … I only see the sun two days a week, and spending my weekdays under fluorescent lights does nothing to boost my pale skin tone. So, after a week at the beach worshipping the sun (don’t judge), I jumped at the chance to try the Miracle Skin Transformer and keep my healthy glow around longer.

I had already received compliments on my tan skin, so I was really surprised when I tested the bronze formula on one leg and immediately noticed that the Miracle cream looked better than my naturally sun-kissed limb. My legs have never looked so flawless — smooth, healthy, you name it. This lotion had truly just completed some kind of miracle. I was even excited to wear shorts to a weekend BBQ (and anyone who knows me knows my legs don’t make too many public appearances).

I would caution anyone with fair skin not to try the bronze-tinted lotion, though, because it is quite dark. If I hadn’t already had a natural tan, I think the new color could have looked fake. The bronzer enhanced my tan.

The lotion is quite thick, as well. Think body butter … now think thicker … much thicker. The formula takes some time to rub in well, and a little goes a long way, so be careful the first time you apply the color. In hard-to-reach places, the lotion can be a little more difficult to blend, but be patient.

The only downfall of the lotion is that the color is temporary. This is the best tinted lotion I’ve used because of its natural color and lack of streaking, but the price tag is a little high for something without staying power. In defense of the Miracle Skin Transformer, it isn’t advertised as a self-tanner, so I can’t fault it for that. My skin truly did looked transformed and felt soft, so it’s OK in my book.

Back in the olden days when I was growing up, a tan was coveted and cultivated. It’s so difficult to step back and say no to golden skin color. I hate the jaundiced look of my legs in the summer time. So I was happy to try Miracle Skin Transformer Body SPF 20 and its claims to protect from the sun, while giving the illusion of sun.

My sample tube came in the Sheer shade. The lightweight lotion has a pale beige color to it, but it blended nicely into my skin. It dries quickly and smooths the look of those little imperfections, like brown spots. As a Sheer shade, my legs and arms looked great with a slight sun-kissed glow — nothing extreme, orange or streaked.
