Karissa Ferry, a 17-year-old girl from Ingram who was missing since July 4, is back home with her family, her grandmother said Saturday.
"She's home, and she's safe," said Linda Ferry of Ingram in the West End.
Linda Ferry declined to say where Karissa had been staying since the teen left her house after her mother took away her cell phone.
"She just came home last night, and we haven't had a chance to discuss much," she said. "We just need family time. People have been very concerned, and we're so thankful to everyone."
Karissa's disappearance prompted police to conduct an intense search in light of the recent killing of Lauren Deis, 14, of East Liberty. Police had said they did not believe the incidents were connected.
Deis' body was found last week by police at Langley High School in the West End.
Karissa yesterday posted this message on her Facebook page: "I'm home, I'm safe, thanks you guys for caring and I'm sorry for all the trouble I caused."
