Chicago police say a canvas moneybag containing $42,000 in cash may have fallen out of a Brinks truck.

A Brinks guard told detectives he used a handcart to load 19 bags of money Monday at a parking lot of the Seaway National Bank on Chicago's South Side.

A police spokesman told WFLD-TV, Chicago, the guard did not notice one canvas bag was missing until he was unloading his truck at the Brinks office.

The guard said the moneybag with $42,000 may have fallen off the truck.

Police were investigating the missing moneybag as a lost item.

No charges have been filed in the incident.
